As part of efforts to improve the socio-economic well-being of Persons Who Are Differently Abled (PWDAs), the Wassa Amenfi Central District Assembly, through the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development and in collaboration with the Disability Fund Management Committee (DFMC), organized a second (2nd) support distribution of items /start-up capital on Tuesday, 7th July, 2026, at Achichire Durbar Center for beneficiaries within the Achichire Area Council.

The initiative was undertaken under the Assembly’s DACF for PWDAs to assist eligible beneficiaries with livelihood support aimed at enhancing their economic independence and improving their overall standard of living.

A total of thirty-one (31) beneficiaries benefited from the exercise. The support package included items such as deep freezers, generators, an industrial sewing machine, Fufu pounding machine, a pepper grinding machine, a wheelchair, knife sharpening machine, and cash as start-up capital to enable beneficiaries to establish or expand income-generating activities.

Officials from the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development took beneficiaries through the purpose of the intervention and stressed the need for the support to be used responsibly. Beneficiaries were reminded that the items and funds provided remain an investment in their future and should not be sold, exchanged, or diverted from their intended use.

Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive expressed appreciation to the Disability Fund Management Committee and the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development for ensuring a transparent and successful distribution process. He noted that empowering Persons Who Are Differently Abled remains a key priority of the Assembly and forms an essential part of its inclusive development agenda.

He encouraged beneficiaries to take full advantage of the assistance provided by investing it in productive ventures that would improve their livelihoods and support their families. The District Chief Executive further assured the beneficiaries that the Assembly would continue to implement programmes that promote equal opportunities and sustainable economic empowerment for vulnerable groups across the district.
